The Times leads with the news that the Metropolitan Police has been placed in special measures over a series of recent “scandals and failures”. The paper reports “systemic” problems with the force have led to a police watchdog making the decision over “substantial and persistent concerns” about the force, including failures to stamp out corruption and properly investigate crime.
