The Times reports that Mr Abramovich had travelled between Moscow and Kyiv several times at the start of March as part of the talks. The paper says the billionaire, who has been sanctioned by the UK, has not been sanctioned by the US after offering to act as a go-between for the Kremlin and the Ukrainian government.
