The Times’ correspondent in Kabul, Anthony Loyd, describes the scene at the airport, as Taliban fighters celebrated amid the wreckage left behind by US troops. He says the militants are jubilant in victory, although most of the American military equipment was destroyed by the forces before they withdrew. “Our country is liberated but the Americans have left us with junk,” one fighter tells the paper.
