“Generation rent” could become “generation buy” under plans to be announced in the Budget next week. the Times reports. In a “boost” for first-time buyers, the paper says the Treasury will guarantee parts of mortgages to encourage banks to offer loans on certain properties – helping buyers get a mortgage with a deposit worth just 5%.
