The home secretary is facing another battle – the Metropolitan Police, which she has reportedly criticised for having a culture of defensiveness and a reluctance to own up to its mistakes, the Sunday Times reports. The paper says Ms Patel has made it clear that Met Police Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick remained in post due to a lack of alternative candidates. Meanwhile, the paper says that Scotland Yard has spoken to Virginia Giuffre about her allegations against the Duke of York, who she says sexually assaulted her when she was 17. Prince Andrew has consistently denied Ms Giuffre’s allegations.
