The Observer reports that Western allies are planning to arm what they expect to be “fierce” Ukrainian resistance in the event that Russian forces topple the Kyiv government. Boris Johnson told the Munich security conference that it was in the collective interest of the West for a Russian invasion to “fail and be seen to fail”, the paper says. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has called for greater international support in the face of Russian aggression.
