The government’s ‘levelling up’ agenda for poorer areas has been criticised as lacking in funding and clarity by Labour, the Guardian reports. The paper says the government is set to put targets to reduce social inequality by 2030 into law, with plans to allow every area of England to have metro mayors among the proposals.
