Ministers are considering cutting redundancy pay for civil servants which would coincide with the plan to cut 91,000 Whitehall jobs, the Guardian reports. The paper says the move sets up a “bitter confrontation” that unions warned may lead to legal and industrial action. A consultation document says changes to the redundancy payments would create “significant savings” on the cost of exits.
