The paper reports High Court documents as claiming Mr Cummings was “instrumental” in the process of awarding a contract for opinion polling to a firm run by his “friends”. Mr Cummings denies bringing in the company because it was run by people he knew. “I would never do such a thing,” he says in a witness statement.
