Fears of the Israel-Gaza war erupting into a wider conflict in the region mean that Israel’s allies, including the UK, are urging their citizens to leave neighbouring Lebanon, a “stronghold” of Iran-backed Hezbollah militants, the Financial Times reports. A text sent to Britons in Lebanon read “the situation could deteriorate quickly and with no warning”, the paper says. Dominating the front page is an image of Israeli soldiers standing by their tanks on the Lebanese border.
