Away from the UK, the Financial Times leads with a story that former US President Donald Trump wanted to join the “armed mob” which stormed the US Capitol building on 6 January 2021. The paper reports on testimony by a former White House staff member, who said Trump attempted to force bodyguards to take him to the riot and tried to grab the steering wheel of a car, then the throat of a man who refused to take him there.
