Elsewhere, the Financial Times reports that 2021 is on track to break records after nearly $4tn (£2.9tn) of mergers and acquisitions were agreed since the start of the year. In August, which is usually a quiet month, there were $500bn (£360bn) of transactions globally, the paper reports, adding that companies are seeking to “exploit cheap financing and bumper profits”.
