The billionaire ex-Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone “swerved jail” by pleading guilty to a £400m fraud and handing over £652m in tax, the Metro says. The 92-year-old was due to face trial next month but in a “surprise” hearing at Southwark crown court, he pleaded guilty to a single charge of fraud by false representation, the paper adds.
