Conservative leadership contender Liz Truss has backtracked over plans to hold an emergency budget to address the cost of living crisis if she becomes PM, the i reports. Instead she will hold a watered down “fiscal event”, which “avoids detailed scrutiny, says the paper. It adds Ms Truss still plans to reverse the national insurance rise, but will “fly blind” by not requesting official economic forecasts.
