Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been criticised after the ministerial code was changed so ministers who break it would not always be expected to resign, reports the Guardian. The paper says Mr Johnson is accused of trying “save his skin” ahead of an inquiry into Partygate set to be launched by the parliamentary privileges committee. A government statement published with the new code said it was “disproportionate to expect that any breach, however minor, should lead automatically to resignation or dismissal”.
