Banking giant HSBC is under pressure to split into two operations – one Asian and one European – from its largest shareholder, Chinese insurance company Ping An, reports the Financial Times. The paper says the conflict represents a worsening of HSBC’s geopolitical problems, with the bank “increasingly torn between China and the west”.
